Singapore Mahjong

Classic 4-player mahjong with flower and animal bonus tiles. Play 8 hands against 3 opponents β€” highest total score wins.

Quick rules
  • 4 sets + 1 pair to win (or Seven Pairs). Sequences, triplets, and honor tiles all count.
  • You need at least 1 tai to win β€” plain concealment alone isn't enough. Animal tiles and your seat-matched flower/season count toward this, on top of hand patterns like flush or dragon/wind pungs.
  • Flowers, seasons, and animal tiles also score bonus points at the end of the hand, separate from your hand's own tai.
  • Each tai doubles your payout (1 tai = 2 points, 2 = 4, 3 = 8...) up to a 64-point limit hand. Self-drawn wins collect from all 3 opponents; winning off a discard collects only from whoever discarded it.

How to play

You're seated with 3 AI opponents in a classic Singapore-style 4-player match. On your turn, draw a tile and discard one, working toward a winning hand of four sets plus one pair (or the Seven Pairs special hand). Flower and animal tiles you draw are bonus tiles β€” they don't go into your hand, but each one you collect scores points on its own and gives you an immediate replacement draw.

Forming a valid hand isn't enough on its own β€” Singapore rules require at least 1 tai to win, so your bonus tiles and hand pattern need to add up to something before you can actually go out. A match is 8 hands long, and whoever has the highest total score once all 8 are played wins β€” a single bad hand isn't fatal if you're ahead overall.

FAQ

Can I play with friends instead of AI?
Not yet β€” right now it's always you against 3 AI opponents, no accounts or multiplayer lobby needed.
Can I pause a match and come back later?
Not currently β€” a match runs start to finish in one sitting, the same way a Zoo Rogue run does. Refreshing mid-match starts over.
What ruleset is this based on?
Singapore-style mahjong, including the flower and animal bonus tiles that aren't part of every regional variant.
