How to play
Guess the hidden 5-letter word in 6 tries. After each guess, every letter's tile changes color to tell you how close you got: green means that letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means it's in the word but in the wrong spot, and gray means it isn't in the word at all. Use those clues to narrow things down guess by guess.
There's one word a day, and it unlocks fresh at midnight in your own time zone โ not a fixed global time โ so the countdown clock you see always reflects when *your* next word actually drops. Your streak (and your grid, if you choose to share it) carries over day to day as long as you keep coming back.
A few guessing tips
- Open with a word that has several common, distinct vowels and consonants (something like CRANE or SLATE) rather than a word with repeated letters โ you'll learn more from your first guess.
- A yellow tile means "somewhere else in the word," not "nowhere near here" โ try that same letter in a different position rather than dropping it entirely.
- Save your last guess or two for narrowing between real words that fit your clues, rather than testing a letter you're only mildly curious about.
FAQ
What happens if I don't finish today's word?
It stays right where you left it if you come back later the same day โ your progress is saved locally. It only resets once a new day's word unlocks.
Is there a colorblind-friendly mode?
Yes โ there's a toggle in the tools row that swaps the green/yellow palette for a blue/orange one that's easier to distinguish.
Can I play past days I missed?
Word Forge only ever shows the current day's word, the same way the streak mechanic works elsewhere โ there's no archive to play backward through.
